During the Holocaust in 1938, Jeanne McKinney’s father and his parents barely escaped Austria with their lives. They lost their livelihoods but made a new life in the United States. Jeanne received a settlement on their behalf and chose to use it toward her first SUA contribution in 2003.

Her ongoing donations are a tribute to her grandparents’ courage and imagination—and her personal hope that future generations respect the inherent dignity of each life and the “boundless inner power of every person to take responsibility for the welfare of mankind” (Daisaku Ikeda, Faith Into Action).
